THE MISSOURI STATE CAPITOL | JEFFERSON CITY MO | DECEMBER 6TH, 2025
There are some weddings that are just more personal than others. This one from start to finish was one of those that was truly personal to the couple. The thing I love most about wedding days is the families who get together, tell stories, laugh together, dance together, and celebrate the start of an expansion to their family story. These are the memories I love to capture. In every photo I try to capture how each wedding felt getting ready, during, and after. I capture the friends, the parents, the food, and all the other in-betweens. While the photos of food in their wedding album, and random guest photos may seem odd right now. Years to come I hope they can remember their day from start to finish. From the smells, the laughter, the decor, everything. I want to capture a story and not just a photo.
Laine and Cheyenne's wedding day gave me all the feels.
THE MORNING
The morning started with stories, of the bride being a junior bridesmaid when she was little and how special it was to share that moment with her junior bridesmaid in her wedding. To the friends telling stories and laughs with the bride as she was getting ready, and getting ready with a room full of women and girl who truly impacted the bride during her life.
The guys all got together and put on their suits at the hotel. Plenty of laughs, dad adjusting collars and coats, and plenty of joking to go round.
THE CEREMONY
The ceremony was just as personal. Officiated by a relative who shared stories to the whole family that everyone laughed and cry about. They shared flowers with their parents and thanked them for their influence on each of their lives. The bride and bridesmaids all carried fresh bouquets made by one of the bridesmaids, and they made the venue smell amazing.
THE PORTRAITS
The portraits were just as stunning as the rest of the wedding. The Missouri State Capitol was decorated elegantly for Christmas and the stunning white columns and architecture make it the perfect backdrop. It was a wonderful December day for a wedding. Chilly, but not cold or windy. No snow, no rain, and slightly overcast. We finished these photos with just enough time before the Christmas parade rolled through that evening.
THE RECEPTION
At the reception the Groom's mother is an INCREDIBLE baker and made a full spread of desserts, and their wedding cake. There were personal touches, favorites for all the family, and their cake was the perfect centerpiece to their head table and was made with love. They decided to both change their shoes and wear a comfy pair of white and black Nike shoes that matched so they could dance the night away!
THE END
They ended their night with one simple, not so fancy request from me. It was a picture of someone who couldn't be in the wedding venue, but was there with them waiting! Their dog. We walked out into the parking lot during the reception and in a suit, and wedding gown the couple snagged the most adorable photo with their fur baby, because we all know they are family too! While it may not be the best photo quality, lighting, or picture perfect moment, the memory they will have from it was worth it.
